7 WAYS TO CARE FOR YOUR HAIR WHILE YOU SLEEP

Looking after your hair can feel like a bit of a chore sometimes, especially with the army of products and hours of preening you need to put in. It turns out though that laying down on your pillow at night could be the perfect time to get some of this hard work done. Today, we’re sharing with you 7 ways to care for your hair while you sleep. It’s the ultimate in lazy girl pampering…
Don’t go to bed with wet hair–peruvian hair
Lauren Conrad may be able to throw her hair in a wet bun before going to sleep and wake up with incredible waves but for us mere mortals this is unlikely to happen. When your hair is wet it’s more prone to damage so rolling around at night isn’t going to do it any good. Opt for an at home blow dry before you go to bed instead and tie your hair in a silk scarf to hold it in place until the morning.
Brush it–360 frontal
Well obviously! But maybe you’re not doing this before bed? If you brush your hair through from the ends and over your scalp you’ll stimulate the hair follicles and distribute the oil down the hair shaft. The natural oils will help to moisturise your hair overnight so you wake up feeling super sleek and silky.
Clip down your bangs—human hair weave
If your bangs become unruly overnight try clipping them down with bobby pins before you go to sleep to hold them in place. You can always clip them straight back too which will create some volume at the roots.
Sleep on a silk pillowcase or wear a hair turban
Minimising frizz and friction is key to waking up with super refreshed and glossy looking hair. Silk pillowcases are an amazing way to prevent damage while you sleep and they won’t suck any moisture out of your hair either. You can also pick up silk hair turbans that do they same thing and are great for travelling too. We’ve actually written a whole post on the benefits of silk pillowcases right here.
Apply a mask
It might sound a bit messy but sleeping with a hair mask on is ideal as it has so much time to sink in. You’ll have to wear a shower cap or wrap a towel around your pillow but it’ll be totally worth it. It also saves you the dilemma of finding enough time in the day to fit in a treatment!
Avoid Elastics
Tying your hair up too tightly at night can cause breakage so you need to avoid a tight pony and elastic hair bobbles. Use an invisibobble or scrunchie instead and create a loose messy bun or pony to avoid putting tension on your strands. You want your hair to be able to come loose if you pull on it during the night.
Combat frizz
If you have frizzy hair apply a leave-in conditioner before going to bed to smooth out your locks for the morning. Spritz it through the lengths of your hair and use a comb to evenly cover your strands. Then tie it in a loose pony at the top of your head and you should be totally frizz free in the morning.

That’s it for our dreamy hair care tips and if nothing else we hope you feel better about hitting snooze as those extra 5 minutes will be doing wonders for your hair…
