HOW TO CURL YOUR HAIR WITH A STRAIGHTENER
This week I’m bringing you my review of how to use it to create classic curls along with your straightener.
It’s probably no secret that I am a big fan of styling tools; whether it’s a wand or a flat iron I love trying out new models and technologies to create the best looks with my hair. So, when I saw that GHD had released a new flat iron with cutting edge technology I had to try it out.
I’ve had the GHD Platinum Styler for about a year now so I feel as though I’ve had enough experience with it to give an honest and thought out review, so here it is:
Pros:
It’s kinder to your hair
This styler features cutting edge Trizone technology meaning there are three points of heat in each plate resulting in a consistent temperature. GHD claim that this technology reduces hair breakage by over 50%, increases shine by 20% and is proven to be kinder to your hair colour. Personally, I’ve noticed a real reduction in heat damage since using this styler – of course, along with heat protection.
Increased shine
The platinum plates on this styler are also kinder to your hair while styling and they help increase its shine. I’ve noticed a real difference in shine when using the Platinum Styler compared to ceramic plates – I am a platinum convert!
Super safe
One super useful feature of the GHD Platinum Styler is its sleep mode – that’s right, your flat iron can ‘go to sleep’! This feature means that after 30 minutes of no use, the styler will turn itself off. This makes it super safe and great for anyone who worries about whether they’ve left their straighteners on before leaving the house or is super forgetful.
No snagging
One of my biggest pet peeves with straighteners is plates that snag and pull on the hair which can be painful and add unnecessary damage. The plates on this styler are so smooth and secure that this issue is a thing of the past – no nasty pulling when you’re creating those super cute styles!
Travel friendly
Ever taken your styling tools abroad with you to find out they weren’t compatible and wouldn’t turn on? Well, the GHD Platinum Styler has a universal voltage meaning it’ll work anywhere in the world making it really handy for any avid travellers who still want to look their best.
Perfect heat
Unusually, the Platinum Styler has just one heat setting of 185°C. This may be seen as a downside as some people like to adjust the temperature of their styling tool however this particular temperature is super safe in terms of reducing heat damage and is considered to be the optimum temperature for styling. Personally I find that this temperature is perfect so me to straighten and curl my hair and my GHAIRS Extensions.
Cons:
Slightly pricey
I have to say that I really struggled to find anything negative about the GHD Platinum Styler however, a slight downside might be its price point of £165 RRP. For many people, this is quite a lot of money to spend on a styling tool however if a flat iron is the kind of thing that you’ll use multiple times a week it’s usually best to invest in a really good quality one to save your hair from damage.
