Your phone better be charged, your extensions better be in and your followers better be ready because today we’re giving you our 10 top tips to totally break the internet with your selfie.
Bring all your hair forward — brazilian birgin hair
It sounds super obvious but if you want your hair to look good you need to be able to see it! Bringing all of your hair forward will help to make it look super full and thick and also help to frame your face. No one can see the back of your head in a selfie anyway! Once you’re ready to take pics make sure to pop your shoulder up on one side for an even bigger look.
Get rid of flyaways — human hair wigs
Flyaways can seriously ruin your vibe in a selfie and make your hair look a little bit dishevelled. Our top trick is to use a toothbrush or blush brush (we stole that one from Jen Atkin) sprayed with hairspray to smooth down any rogue hairs and give you a totally perfected look.
Add some volume -- mens toupee
The bigger the hair the better in a picture and it’s all about being over exaggerated to make a big impact. We don’t care whether you backcomb, use a texturising powder or mess up your tresses with your fingers at long as you create some XXL volume.
Find good lighting
Lighting is KEY to every picture and can take you from sloth to supermodel in the flick of a switch. Natural light is best so if you’re taking some snaps in the day make sure to stand by a window or go outside. You don’t want it to be too dark or bright so try and get an even coverage for the most flattering look.
Fill in your hairline with eyeshadow
If you have thin hair or an uneven hairline then take an eyeshadow in the same colour as your root shade and pack it on as thick as you like. You can add the shadow to your hairline to even it out and fill in any sparse gaps and also to your parting which will give the illusion of super thick hair.
Know your angles and face shape
Whether it’s duck face, a 90s pout or smile it’s good to know your best poses and work with them. You can then place your hair accordingly before taking a picture and set it in place with hairspray to make sure it doesn’t move.
Clip your wefts higher to cover short layers
In real life you need to clip your wefts eyebrow level or lower to make sure that they don’t poke through, especially in finer hair. But for selfies you can take the wefts as high as you want to cover any pesky layers and make your hair look way thicker in the front.
Smooth over your dry ends
Split ends can really stick out in a selfie so you want to make sure you smooth them down with some oil to make your hair look super healthy. You can either do this with a regular hair oil if you’re stuck, pick up some hand cream instead which works just as well.
Brush out your curls
This is a behind the scenes trick that is crucial to getting sweeping Hollywood-esque waves and will make your hair look like a million dollars. Simply curl all of your hair away from your face and then once it’s completely cool, gently brush them out with your loop brush. Simple!
Use apps to edit pics
Adding a filter or brightening up a pic can do wonders if you didn’t nail the lighting first time. Just be sure not to edit your gorgeous face obvs! We love VSCO for the best filters and UNUM for feed planning.
